Our Causes
Hearing Disability
Hearing loss (also called hearing impairment) makes it hard to hear or understand sounds. This happens when there is a problem with one or more parts of the ear, the nerves coming from the ears, or the hearing part of the brain. Some people are born with hearing loss.
Down Syndrome
This is a genetic condition that causes mild to serious physical and developmental problems. People with Down syndrome are born with an extra chromosome. Chromosomes are bundles of genes, and your body relies on having just the right number of them.
Learning Disability
A learning disability is a neurological condition which affects the brain's ability to send, receive, and process information. A child with a learning disability may have difficulties in reading, writing, speaking, listening, understanding mathematical concepts, and with general comprehension.
Visual impairment
Visual impairment, also known as vision impairment or vision loss, is a decreased ability to see to a degree that causes problems not fixable by usual means, such as glasses. Some also include those who have a decreased ability to see because they do not have access to glasses or contact lenses.
Autism
Autism, also called autism spectrum disorder (ASD), is a complicated condition that includes problems with communication and behavior. It can involve a wide range of symptoms and skills. ASD can be a minor problem or a disability that needs full-time care in a special facility.
Our Timeline
In 2016, Care Giver Initiative entered into a partnership with Flour Mills of Nigeria Ltd and Lagos state Universal Basic Education Board to construct a rehabilitation/vocational training Centre.
In 2017, we completed and commissioned the Centre at Methodist primary school Apapa which housed sewing machines, shoemaking equipment, hair styling material and computers.
In 2018, we held our first skill exhibition program and expanded our services to include RCM inclusive unit (primary school) Ayeteju, Lekki
Sari Igumu inclusive unit (primary school) Sari Igumu
And RCM inclusive unit (primary school) Ibeju Lekki.
